The 3S Group Presents Its Eco-Friendly Companies at the DecarboMED Forum

The 3S Group participated through its companies Candyled, Africa Solar, and Biopack in the first edition of the Mediterranean Decarbonization Forum (DecarboMED), held on September 24 and 25, 2024, at the Laico Hotel in Tunis. This event, themed “Towards a Carbon-Neutral Mediterranean,” was organized at the initiative of the National Agency for Energy Management, in cooperation with UTICA, UNDP Tunisia, the European Union in Tunisia, and GIZ Tunisia.

DecarboMED: An Opportunity to Explore New Environmental Solutions

This forum provided an opportunity to explore innovative environmental solutions and effective strategies, as well as to exchange best practices to ensure the transition to a green economy. The meeting brought together key players in green energy in Tunisia, including industrialists and professionals from the sector (companies, startups, executives, etc.). As the guest of honor, Kamel Madouri, head of the government, emphasized that the energy policy adopted in Tunisia aims to strengthen the energy infrastructure to ensure energy supply and storage, improve energy independence, and support private investments in renewable energy, particularly in the green hydrogen sector.

A Positive Effect on the Competitiveness of the Country’s Economy and Businesses

Moreover, the head of government indicated that several projects had already been launched, particularly in the field of decarbonization, with the aim of reducing Tunisia’s reliance on fossil fuels by lowering demand, diversifying the energy mix, and optimizing available capacities in energy efficiency and renewable energy. He noted that these projects would have a positive effect on improving the competitiveness of the country’s economy and businesses.

During this forum, several future and ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the energy transition were the main discussion points over the two days. These initiatives align with a global strategy to increase the share of renewable energies in the energy mix.

Additionally, several opportunities emerged to invest in modern infrastructure, particularly solar and wind power plants, to harness abundant natural resources. This approach aims to reduce energy costs for consumers and attract foreign investments in the renewable energy sector.
